CAMPAIGN COMPLETE! Next Steps and Podcast Retrospective!
7 months ago – Thu, Jul 23, 2020 at 11:58:16 AM

Hi there Judges, Jurors, and Attorneys!

It's been about a week since the successful campaign(!) so we wanted to give everyone a quick update of what is going on in the world of Rough Draft Games.

We have commissioned the extra pieces of art that we unlocked via stretch goals and are expecting to start seeing those roll in VERY soon. We’re stoked to be featuring over 100 pieces of unique art from two incredible artists in the base game of All Rise. Who knows where we'll land with the expansions, but to be able to unlock all of the planned card content was so crucial to our vision of All Rise; it will be great to provide our backers with so much more content as well as any future purchasers of All Rise post-campaign.

Speaking of post-campaign purchases, we WILL be opening up late pledges soon! If you or anyone you know missed out on the Kickstarter, there will be another chance to snag it at a discounted price from the eventual MSRP. We have a few extra goodies planned for that, but we’re keeping that under wraps until we can finalize a few details. We’ll just leave you with a preview poem:

If conditions are right and late pledges look bright, stretch goals won't unravel, there may still be a…

I forgot the last part.

Additionally, we have been working on drawing up a release form for those that will be featured in the game, so, if you backed at either the Prosecution Calls YOU to the Stand or The Supreme Court Package tiers, we'll be getting in touch with you soon, assigning witnesses, and getting your consent to be in the game!

Finally, if you are at all interested in a behind-the-scenes look at bringing All Rise to life or the origin story of Rough Draft Games, check out our latest episode of the Roll and Move podcast! Normally we have a blast talking about the worst and weirdest board games that we can find, but we got a little introspective and nostalgic and decided to present the oral history of Rough Draft Games and All Rise. I think there are some really good insights here if you have any interest in ever crowdfunding your own project or creating your own multimember LLC.  If you like what you hear, consider subscribing as we return to our normal content next week tackling the bottom of the bargain bin in the board game section of Half Price Books.

Talk to you soon!

The Final Hours of the campaign have arrived!
7 months ago – Thu, Jul 16, 2020 at 01:18:57 PM

We’re almost there! It’s amazing to see, but you guys have taken us past stretch goal after stretch goal, blowing out expectations completely out of the water!

And while the hours are winding down on the campaign, the pledges certainly haven’t been!

We wanted to take a moment to highlight the “Courtroom Collector” pledge level. If we had enough people upgrade their pledges to fulfill it, we would not only surpass the “More Cards” stretch goal, But we would be right on the verge of hitting the funding needed to put some hefty chipboard gavels in every version of the game!

If you’re able, we’d love to send some of our original Evidence Art to you guys and give you a piece of the game itself. The illustrations are 6x8 pastel drawings on thick Canson paperback. Let’s take a look of some of the art that is up for grabs:

Exhibit 36: “A Slick-Looking Gun” “Holy smokes... Look at the size of that reticle! Are those two triggers? And… Oh my… A laser sight too? Well of course the murderer used this weapon to shoot his friend 5 times in the chest! I would too! Just look at it! It’s soooo cool! It’s practically BEGGING to be used in a crime!”

Exhibit 30: “Turtle shell” This one’s based a little in reality. One of us here at RDG was knocked unconscious when someone threw a turtle shell at him as a child. It really does make the perfect murder weapon for an animal obsessed assailant! Then again perhaps it provides the perfect defense… How could my client possibly store all that stolen lettuce in his house, as the prosecution claims, when he’s an avid collector of turtles!? It would all be gone before you know it!

Regardless of what happens in these last few hours, we cannot begin to express how grateful we are to ALL of you for bringing the game to life and getting it into the hands of over 600 people. The support has been incredible, the feedback invaluable, and the memories indelible.

24 Hours Remaining! The Final Countdown!
8 months ago – Wed, Jul 15, 2020 at 01:58:39 PM

One day left on the clock, and we’re so close to riding victoriously off into the sunset! This campaign has been so eye-opening and has exceeded our expectations in almost every way. But it’s time to go out with a BANG!

We’re gonna need all the help we can get to reach #GavelsForEveryone! It’s time to pull out all of the stops. Help us spread the word by clicking the links below and sharing the campaign across social media!

Give us a shout out on Twitter!

Spread the word on Facebook!

PLUS it looks like we're closing in on the Sand Timers! You guys are going to need to expect prompt judgments and succinct arguments with these bad boys.

Up next is EVEN MORE CARDS!!! We really want to hit this stretch goal so that everyone who pledged on Kickstarter gets 100% of the cards we envisioned for the game at a fraction of the MSRP. More variety, crazier cases, more confounding evidence, and wackier characters await!

We can’t say enough how thankful we are. It is because of all of you that we have been able to make this game a reality. We are so excited to see where we end up and start cracking down on getting this bad boy produced and into your hands so that you can #SueYourFriends!

Let’s go!

Final 48 hours!
8 months ago – Tue, Jul 14, 2020 at 04:07:28 PM

It’s been a hell of a ride so far, but we’re finally down to the home stretch. 48 hours to see what else we can cram into the game!

Now is that last chance to subpoena any friends and family members still holding out on completing their civic duty... (AKA supporting our game).

So far you all have helped us unlock:

  • Unique Card Backs
  • Fully Illustrated Print and Play
  • Civic Duty Cards
  • Deluxe Juror Scorecards
  • And MORE content

On top of, you know, the whole reaching the funding necessary to get the game published… thing… heh.

We are eternally grateful for everyone that has shared the campaign so far and brought in more and more people for us to share this crazy dream with. But of course there is still some time to share! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and of course your local courthouse’s bulletin board! Here we'll even get ya started ;)

Picking up the Pace, Home Stretch in Sight!
8 months ago – Mon, Jul 13, 2020 at 07:13:19 PM

The momentum is undeniable, and it's clear to us that you all have a penchant for jury duty! This past weekend we flew through another stretch goal, unlocking more cards for every edition of All Rise! That means each copy will now get 30 Surprise Witness Cards, 55 Case Cards, and 65 Evidence Cards!

But there are plenty more stretch goals to go!

Something that was really important to us was making sure each copy of All Rise included everything you needed to play, and one thing that was clear was the game needed a way for players to keep things moving.

During playtesting we observed that games where players actively managed their time resulted in snappier games, less downtime, and hilarious last-second outbursts...

Because of that, we wanted to include sand timers as a stretch goal for our campaign for All Rise! This way, people are spending less time digging for cell phones or watches and more time digging into the fun!

The next goal is set for 17K! But remember, CLOCK is ticking on our campaign! If you haven’t shared with your friends, now’s the TIME to do so!
